ABOUT ME
I believe that props and costumes used by characters in film and theatre are a reflection of their personality and can act as important aids to telling their back story or developing the plot. For example, heavy weathering on an item can imply frequent use or that the character has owned this item for a long time and feels an attachment to it.
Sustainability in my designs is important to me, therefore I try to include modularity and use mechanical fixtures as opposed to adhesives. This allows individual parts of the model to be replaceable, should they break during use, and reduce the amount of material needed. For personal projects, I often use scrap materials and offcuts that I can find in an effort to reduce waste.
When working in a team, using a specific design style where visual elements such as shape, colour or finish can be used to help each prop look like they belong in the same room and tie everything together on set.
I am familiar with and have experience in using batch production techniques to produce multiple copies of the same item. Each feature, no matter how small, should be treated with the same level of care. Attention to detail on a prop is vital for authenticity to the audience and can be the difference between it appearing to be real or easily spotted as a fake.
EXPERIENCE
Sep 2023 - Present
Design and Technology technician, Forest Gate Community School
Responsible for the maintenance of a wood and metal workshop, laser cutter, vacuum former and 3D printer as well as supervising/assisting the students with their physical prototyping.
Reduced material waste and increased laser cutting efficiency in the design and technology department, with redesigned cutting files.
I can safely operate equipment, maintain an orderly stockroom and understand the law and regulations regarding the safe use of machinery and COSHH.
I took on additional responsibility as the graphic designer at the school. Since then, I have revised the school-wide visual language for displays and documents to give them a standardised format and improve its aesthetic appeal.
Nov 2022 - Dec 2022
FREELANCE DESIGNER, EMP ESPORTS
A freelance project in which I was approached by a competitive esports team, who currently compete in worldwide ranking events, to design a new logo and brand identity.
Oct 2021 - Mar 2023
FREELANCE DESIGNER, HELLERMANNTYTON
A freelance project where I designed a colour coded cable management system for use in either electric vehicles, domestic residencies or an industrial environment.
The form this product took had to be carefully considered as it required me to create a profile that was suitable for injection moulding. I also designed the two part mould that it would be formed in.
JUN 2018 - OCT 2022
VARIOUS ROLES, ARGOS SAINSBURY'S
I started as a sales assistant before progressing to other roles, where I learned many valuable skills relating to the effective organisation of my workspace and my time.
I progressed within the company to hold responsibilities such as carrying out new product orders, high value stock checks, fitting shop fronts and planning/delegating driver delivery routes for the day.

Hobbies and Interests
In my spare time, I like to design and 3D print models and props, mainly from sci-fi and pop culture films or TV. I prime, paint and weather them to give them an authentic finish. I also frequently make small tweaks and improvements to my home workshop space.
I use a software called ‘stud.io’ to create my own Lego sets and designs.
I stay up to date on design futures and the latest technology in the world of engineering and design. It is an industry that is always evolving and this ensures that I maintain current best practice in the field.
